Le frère du cardinal Marc Ouellet est dans l'eau chaude. Des accusations d'abus sexuels sur une mineure ont été déposées contre Paul Ouellet en Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

En fait, les évènements seraient survenus à La Motte, près d'Amos. L'accusé, âgé aujourd'hui de 63 ans, aurait agressé sexuellement à partir de 1982 une fillette âgée alors de huit ans. Les agressions se seraient poursuivies pendant une dizaine d'années selon la plaignante dans ce dossier.

Les autorités policières ont enquêté pendant quatre ans sur cette affaire avant de porter des accusations. Paul Ouellet, un enseignant et un artiste multidisciplinaire, a été remis en liberté sous conditions mercredi soir après sa comparution en journée, mais reviendra devant le tribunal lors des prochaines semaines.

Trois accusations ont été retenues, soit d'avoir eu des rapports sexuels avec une mineure de moins de 14 ans, de l'avoir agressé sexuellement et de l'avoir incitée à le toucher à des fins sexuelles.

Le Cardinal Marc Ouellet, primat du Canada et archevêque de Québec, n'a pas voulu commenter cette affaire lorsque rejoint par le Journal de Montréal.
